I listen to quite a few British gardening podcasts and they're always going on a Camassia, which grows in the wild in great swaths each spring where I grew up. (Well, used to grow in great swaths.) I wrote a little bit about it here (https://cafebotanica.substack.com/p/camas-scotch-broom-other-displaced) and they're definitely not messy. So beautiful and culturally fascinating.

I am in CO and an herbalist so some of your favorites are some of mine. I would add Monarda (bee balm), echinacea, skullcap, Rose Mallow...probably my favorite. Lobelia, Blue Vervain
